Identity audit

How the XSERIES visual identity changed from XS-1 to XS-3, which elements stayed consistent, and what has no rules yet.

Note

This audit is built from public material on Instagram @xseries___ (feed and all highlights) and YouTube @gamesofsociety. Official brand files (vector logo, fonts, color guide) have not been received, so every finding here is based on screenshots.

The XS-3 direction is the strongest and the most "characterful". These docs recommend XS-3 as the starting point of the digital product's visual system, with the note that each edition may still have its own accent. See the decision to make XS-3 the starting point in the Visual decision log.

XS-1: the court as a screen

  • The most distinctive element is the LED court floor: light blue (#599ad4), with text running across the surface.
  • The X SERIES logo is already in use, but the other graphics are still generic (story templates, white text over photos).
  • Strength: the court itself is the medium. This idea is worth keeping for the digital product (for example, the court as a canvas for card animations).

XS-2: duel of legends

  • Color shifts to blue-purple (#3254a1, #5c43b7) for the key visual and backdrop.
  • Documentary content (airport arrivals, school visit, photoshoot) uses warm grading that feels authentic and "behind the scenes".
  • The duel material uses a face-off composition, the classic boxing poster formula.
  • The weakness: no system ties the graphic and documentary material together. They feel like two different brands.

XS-3: The Unorthodox

  • Deep black background. About 60–70% of the pixels in XS-3 material are almost black (#040403). See Color palette.
  • Two lights: red from above, teal/cyan from the side or below. This gives a night arena feel and also reads as two sides.
  • Logo: "X SERIES" with a mint-cyan gradient, the edition number "3" in red.
  • Player cards use a playing card layout: rank (A, Q, J, P) in the top left corner, repeated upside down in the bottom right corner, a filigree-style ornamental frame, and the player seated on a throne in a black tracksuit with the X logo.
  • Typography: bold condensed capitals, often italic, with the player name as the largest element.
  • Arena render: an aerial view of the court amid a full stand, used for the FAQ, tickets, and announcements.

Tip

The XS-3 visual language already matches the content of the format: cards (X Cards, President Cards) appear as playing cards, and the "president" appears as a throne. This is rare for an event brand, and it is the asset to bring into the digital product.

Elements that stay consistent across the three editions

Read row by row: a full dot means the element is clear or dominant in that edition. A row that moves between columns is an element with no rules yet.

Identity gaps

These four gaps have no rules yet. Each note states the consequence and the question the client needs to answer.

Gaps4

From the audit of public material

No visible brand guide. The accent color changes every edition with no fixed core color

Consequence: XSERIES does not yet have an instantly recognizable color like Coca-Cola red or Twitch purple

Ask the client: Official color codes Locking brand colors

Weak team identity. The four franchises (Lynx Hunters, Grim Reaper, Nova Titans, Fury Squad) appear on banners and jerseys, but each team's logo, colors, and rules are not documented. See Franchise teams

Consequence: Team pages cannot be designed with fixed colors yet

Ask the client: Four franchise identities

Information material is still in story form. The FAQ and ticket prices are images, not text

Consequence: They cannot be searched, translated, or read by a screen reader

Ask the client: Can the FAQ and price text be sent as a document?

The vector logo is not publicly available. The logo in these docs is an SVG approximation

Consequence: Every page uses the approximate logo

Ask the client: Vector logo files
