Connecting the dots

How all parts of these docs connect to each other. Every visual decision and every feature can be traced back to a research finding, through the same goals and challenges.

One flow, four stages

01 · What we know
Research
02 · Where we are going
Strategy
03 · How it feels
Visual Direction
04 · What gets built
Product
  • Phase 1 Hub, Phase 2 Live, Phase 3 Off-season (Roadmap)
The arrows also work in reverse. If Phase 1 data contradicts an assumption, go back to the research and update the goal.

In one sentence: XSERIES has no home yet and does not own its fans yet, so we build a home that explains the cards, brings matches to life, and collects fans, with the night-arena feel of XS-3.

Seven threads

Each row below is one thread: a research finding that becomes a goal, a challenge, a feature, a measure, and finally a visual decision. Click the links in each node to see the evidence.

How to use this page

  • When proposing a new feature: find its thread. If there is no research finding at the far left, the feature is still an assumption. Note it on the Open questions.
  • When proposing a visual decision: make sure there is a goal it serves. Note it in the Visual decision log.
  • When new data comes in: update the leftmost node first, then check whether the nodes to its right still hold.
