Product vision

What is being built, for whom, and the shape of the product, from the website to the Match Center.

Vision

Important

The official XSERIES website, where fans understand the game, follow its players, and play the cards themselves, before, during, and after the event.

Product principles

  1. Mobile first. The main audience comes from IG and TikTok on their phones.
  2. One screen, one answer. Schedule, prices, and rules can be understood without long scrolling.
  3. Cards as the UI language. Players, rules, matches, and predictions appear as cards. See Digital product UI direction.
  4. Complement, don't replace. Tickets stay on GOERS, video stays on YouTube. The website brings them together and adds context.
  5. Every visit adds data. Waitlist and account prompts appear at natural points, not at the front door.
  6. Feels like a game. XBall itself is designed like a game: X Cards, President Cards, and A/Q/J/P player ranks (Format & rules). The product speaks the same language: cards you can flip, player ranks, XP and levels, instant feedback when you predict. Two limits: no money or betting, and the schedule and tickets are never hidden behind game mechanics. Features that build this feel carry a Game label in Features & priorities.

Product form per phase

PhaseFormContents
1Website (responsive, static + CMS)Home, XS-3, schedule, tickets, rules and cards, teams, players, FAQ, news, waitlist
2Match Center / Live Match (part of the website)Live score, active cards, timeline, predictions, MVP vote
3Fan accountsProfile, player card collection, prediction history, presale access
OptionalAppOnly if Phase 2–3 data shows high repeat usage

Note

Recommendation: don't start with a native app. The event is only 2 days per edition. A web page that opens from an IG link makes more sense until there is evidence of repeat usage.

Not part of the initial scope

  • Selling tickets directly (stays on GOERS)
  • Own video streaming (stays on YouTube)
  • A full fantasy league with per-player points (too complex for 4 matches per edition; card predictions fit better)
  • Money bets or paid points (online gambling is illegal, and many fans are still at school; use free points)
  • Merchandise e-commerce (can follow later through a partner)
  • A native app (see the note above)

Reading order for the Digital product section after this page:

  1. Product references: patterns from other products, ending with a MoSCoW priority
  2. Features & priorities: what gets built in each phase, including the fan prediction game summary
  3. Information architecture: all features laid out as pages
  4. Content model & CMS: how those pages are filled
