Positioning & framing

How XSERIES is positioned against futsal, football leagues, and entertainment events, plus the message pillars and how to frame the story.

Positioning statement

For young Indonesians who grew up with futsal, games, and creators, XSERIES is a 5v5 sportainment league that brings world legends, pro players, and creators onto one court with rules that can flip the score at any moment, unlike regular futsal and football leagues, where the rules are fixed and the stars are far away, because every match has cards, characters, and stories, not just a score.

Evidence for each claim

ClaimEvidence

Arena scaleGOS holds the Southeast Asian futsal attendance record, 15,337 people at Indonesia Arena (Antara)

How the framing evolved from edition to edition

EditionFramingEvidence
XS-1"Game Without Limits": a new formatXS-1 court LED
XS-2"Battle of the Century", "GOAT": world starsFalcao vs Ricardinho poster
XS-3"The Unorthodox", #PlayDifferent: identityXS-3 player announcement

The direction is already right: from "new format" to "identity". Recommendation: lock in #PlayDifferent as the long-term brand platform, while the theme of each edition (The Unorthodox) becomes the season's subtitle.

Framing to avoid

  • "Futsal selebriti" ("celebrity futsal") or "tarkam artis" ("celebrity pickup games"). This downplays the quality of the sport. Pro players and legends are the proof that this is competitive.
  • "The Indonesian version of Kings League". This comparison can help at the start, but it positions XSERIES as a copycat. The cards, the 2-day format, and the GOS school pathway are the differentiators to highlight. See Competitor landscape.
  • "Legends exhibition match". Legends events at GBK (Clash of Legends, The Rivalry Returns) sell nostalgia without a format. XSERIES must always come across as a competition with franchises, standings, and champions.

Tone of voice

Keep the mix of casual Indonesian slang and English that is already in use ("Jaden siap memasak!" ("Jaden is ready to cook!"), "Wanna see him dance on the pitch?"). For the digital product:

  • Navigation and UI labels: short English (Fixtures, Players, Cards, Tickets), consistent with sports terms.
  • Body copy, captions, and microcopy: casual Indonesian.
  • Rules and tickets: clear, standard Indonesian, because this is information that must not be misunderstood.
